|Personal, Social and Emotional development||For children to play cooperatively, taking account of the ideas of others.
To form positive relationships with adults and children in the class.
For children to have developed the confidence to speak and share their ideas in a familiar group.
|Physical development||To show control and co-ordination in large and small movements.
To move confidently in a range of ways, safely negotiating space. To handle equipment and tools effectively, including pencils for writing.
To know the importance for good health of physical exercise and a healthy diet and talk about ways to keep healthy and safe. To manage their own basic hygiene and personal needs successfully, including dressing and going to the toilet independently.
|Communication and Language||To show attentive listening in a group and to be able to discuss a story.
To follow instructions involving several parts.
To express themselves effectively, using the correct tense.
|Literacy||To be able to read a range of common words, using their phonic skills to decode them and be able to read a simple sentence unaided.
To show a basic understanding of a book when reading and be able to make predictions about story events.
To write a simple sentence that can be read by themselves and others.
To write their name and other simple words correctly.
To show an understanding of how to use a capital letter and a full stop in a sentence.
To use a pencil accurately to form recognisable letters when writing simple words.
|Mathematics||To count reliably to 20, forwards and backwards.
To order numbers to 20.
To say one more or one less than a number, up to 20.
To add and subtract two single-digit numbers.
To solve problems involving halving, doubling and sharing.
To name and talk about the properties of shapes, both 2D and 3D.
To create repeating patterns.
To use everyday language to talk about size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems.
|Understanding the World||To talk about past and present events in their own lives and in the lives of family members.
To know that other children do not always enjoy the same things and show sensitivity to this.
To know about similarities and differences between themselves and others and among families, communities and traditions.
To talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one another.
To make observations of animals and plants and explain why some things occur, and talk about changes.
|Expressive Arts and Design||To sing songs, make music and dance, and experiment with ways of changing them.
